THE DETAILS, WHEN YOU NEED THEM
Standard HVAC filters catch dust and debris, but they weren’t designed to neutralize bacteria, viruses, mold spores, or the fine particulate matter that Sacramento Valley wildfire smoke pushes indoors. Whole-home air purification systems integrate directly with your existing HVAC to actively treat every room’s air, not just filter it. JR Putman Plumbing, Heating & Air has installed and serviced HVAC systems in Rancho Cordova since 1981, and our NATE-certified technicians bring that same depth to air purification.
Our technicians aren’t commission-driven. They assess your home’s HVAC setup and your specific air quality concerns first, then recommend the technology that fits. Free estimates are available, and our flat-rate pricing applies seven days a week with no overtime charges.
Ready to breathe easier at home? Call (916) 909-4083 for a free air purification estimate in Rancho Cordova. We’re available 24/7 and can schedule same-day and weekend appointments.
Our NATE-certified and ENERGY STAR-certified technicians handle every installation. As a Premier Lennox Dealer, we match Lennox air purification equipment to your system rather than defaulting to a one-size-fits-all package. Our leadership earned an Ultimate Comfort Advisor award in 2024, and we’ve held BBB accreditation throughout our 45+ years serving the Greater Sacramento Area.
Every technician we send to your home is background-checked and drug-tested. That’s not a marketing line; it’s a hiring standard we’ve maintained because we hold ourselves to what we call the “mom standard”: we only send people into your home that we’d send to our own mothers. Through Contractors for a Cause, we’ve also donated more than $150,000 to Sacramento-area families.
A few things that make working with us straightforward:
We don’t show up with a product already in mind. The process starts with a system assessment: our technician reviews your current HVAC configuration, evaluates airflow capacity, and asks about your household’s specific concerns, whether that’s pet dander, recurring odors, allergy symptoms, or wildfire smoke infiltration. That assessment drives the equipment recommendation.
Once we’ve matched the right technology to your home, our NATE-certified technicians handle the installation and integrate the system with your existing HVAC for whole-home coverage. Pairing the purifier to your system’s actual airflow capacity helps prevent mismatches that reduce performance or strain equipment. After installation, we can walk you through what ongoing maintenance looks like, whether that’s filter replacement schedules, UV lamp intervals, or collector-plate cleaning, depending on the system type. For homeowners who want continued support, our Whole Home Care membership includes twice-annual HVAC maintenance visits and priority scheduling, supporting your air purification system season after season.
We’re available around the clock. Whether you want to plan ahead or need someone out quickly, we can accommodate same-day and weekend appointments at the same flat rate as any other service call.

Indoor air carries a wider range of contaminants than most homeowners expect. Dust mites, pet dander, pollen, mold spores, bacteria, and viruses are common throughout the Rancho Cordova area. Homes with pets, occupants with asthma or allergies, or residents dealing with persistent odors face indoor air quality challenges that passive filtration alone may not fully resolve.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) present a different problem. Emitted by paints, cleaning products, adhesives, and new furniture, VOCs pass through filter media as gases rather than particles, so mechanical filters can’t capture them. Wildfire smoke compounds the issue: the fine particulate matter (PM2.5) it carries can bypass standard HVAC filters, and it introduces additional VOCs into the home. For Sacramento Valley households, these seasonal air quality events are a real and recurring concern. Poorly maintained HVAC systems can also circulate mold spores and biological contaminants through every room they serve.
Different contaminants call for different solutions. We install several types of air purification systems and recommend the technology that fits your home’s specific situation.
UV-C systems are installed inside the HVAC ductwork or air handler. As air circulates through your system, ultraviolet light neutralizes biological contaminants including bacteria, viruses, and mold spores. They’re a strong fit for households concerned about airborne pathogens or mold growth within the HVAC system itself.
Activated carbon uses a porous carbon medium to adsorb VOCs, odors, and chemical fumes. If your concern is indoor odors, off-gassing from building materials, or the chemical compounds in wildfire smoke, activated carbon addresses what mechanical filtration can’t.
These systems use an electrostatic charge to attract and trap fine airborne particles, including allergens and smoke particles, onto collector plates. They’re effective at capturing particles too small for standard filter media. Collector plates require periodic cleaning to maintain performance.
Whole-home units integrate with your existing HVAC and treat air throughout every room simultaneously. Unlike portable room purifiers, they don’t require positioning or repositioning and provide consistent coverage wherever your HVAC reaches. Some homes benefit from combining two technologies, such as UV-C plus activated carbon, to address both biological contaminants and chemical pollutants in one system.
