In the Greater Sacramento area, it can reach both very hot and cold temperatures. Having a well-insulated home will cut costs on your energy bills, provide a more comfortable home and help prolong the life of your heating and air systems. This allows your equipment to work less on extreme-temperature days.
Also called loose-fill insulation, blown-in insulation is made of loose particles which are blown into an attic using a specialized machine. It’s the most commonly used type of insulation because it is more economical and can be blown into smaller, hard-to-reach areas. It can be used as the primary type of insulation or blown over the top of other types to fill any gaps.
Removal can be necessary if the insulation was damaged by moisture from a leaky roof or a rodent infestation. Insulation removal is also necessary when sealing the attic floor for energy rebates from local utilities.
This type of insulation is generally made from fiberglass that is pre-cut into batts. It also comes in a blanket form that comes in large rolls. Batts are good when insulating vertical walls in attics called knee walls.
